ReverbNation Review. Is it worth it?
If you are looking for a place where you can post your music and promote your band then you may have run across ReberbNation.com
They have a nice free service that allows you to post unlimited songs. This is a great feature since many places limit the songs you can upload.
You get the basics that you need including:
1. 500 name email list.
2. Unlimited song uploads
3. Profile page
4. Facebook app
The features are more than adequate for beginning musicians and a band on a budget!
Basic membership: Free
Pro membership: $19.95 Month
You can skip to the bottom if you want to get to the summary!
Compared to other services like NumberOneMusic (read my NumberOneMusic Review) there are a nice variety of free services or you can also buy upgrades separately as you need them. This can be valuable if you want to use one product like the Press Kit to start finding gigs and opportunities when you are ready.
ReverbNation is a pretty awesome site, however if you want to build your fan base it can take awhile. A free account can be useful and taking the time to get fans can work by letting you slowly network the program.
Other services like NumberOneMusic can get you more fans quickly but they don’t provide a free service. What they do offer is a no cost trial with the option to upgrade in order to keep your fan base.
I would say that ReverbNation is a wise place to start to get an online presence!
I would use the free service until you either need a bigger mailing list or you want to spend a little extra for promotion.
I strongly recommend that you get your music tight and start finding local gigs on your own before you start spending money on promotion. Remember the higher quality your music, the better it will sell when you do start promoting it.
There are a few things you can do if you are on a budget. If you are looking for ways to support your band with promotion, then having your own website with your band name in the address is a necessary first step.
It needs to look like this: www.(myband).com
I like the idea of starting off with the free ReverbNation to build your fan base/email list and start getting exposure. And a free website makes sense. Is it easy to build?
Thanks John
Yes, they provide basic templates at reverb nation. for the paid service you get more templates but the free version is quite adequate. I also have a band website that I built. if you want a free site with an awesome community to support you you can start here http://freelifeincome.com/rubix for two free websites
You’re website loads great even from my iPad. Thanks for the helpful info.
